Acceptable Use Policy
Cheapnews Acceptable Use Policy
The Cheapnews Acceptable Use Policy outlines acceptable usage of your Cheapnews account, describes what we consider to be abuse of our services, and details the procedures we follow in investigating reports of abuse.
Although we wish to extend every possible consideration to our members, Cheapnews will deal quickly and decisively with instances of clear abuse of our service, including suspension of posting or account termination.
By signing up and/or using your Cheapnews account, you agree to abide by this policy and to keep updated on changes, as this policy may change at any time. This Acceptable Use Policy should be considered as part of the Terms of Service for your Cheapnews account. Please note that by signing up, your email can be used for promotional or commercial purposes.
Reasonable Use Policy
Cheapnews aims for all its members to have reasonable use of its service. To ensure the best possible service for all members, Cheapnews may curtail unreasonable usage of unlimited accounts. Cheapnews’ unlimited account does not constitute a dedicated connection. If a member cannot maintain reasonable use, Cheapnews may cancel, suspend, or decline to renew the service without notice. Determination of unreasonable use is at Cheapnews’ sole discretion.
Cheapnews accounts are for individual use only. Non-individual usage, or usage indistinguishable from non-individual use, is prohibited. Examples of prohibited uses include:
- Sharing a login between people
- Simultaneous logins from multiple IP addresses
- Connecting from a proxy of any kind
- Using multi-access caching systems such as DNEWS or NetCache
Net Etiquette and Abuse
Each newsgroup represents a distinct “community” with its own standards of appropriate behavior. Many groups have written charters and FAQs that reflect the consensus of regular users. Always familiarize yourself with these standards before posting.
Cheapnews encourages respect and consideration for all users in the newsgroups. Communicate respectfully, considering the diverse backgrounds of the audience.
Posting
Complaints about improper or abusive postings will be investigated according to Cheapnews guidelines. Abuse may result in suspension of posting privileges or account termination.
Copyrights
Cheapnews does not monitor the information flowing through or stored on its system. Members agree not to transfer or store copyrighted works without the permission of the copyright holder.
Spam
Cheapnews has a strict anti-spam policy. Examples of spam include repetitive posts, commercial posts, promotional posts, and chain letters. Violators may be charged a €50 cleanup fee per spam message and have their accounts terminated.
Other Abuse Situations
Cheapnews staff will review abuse reports and take necessary actions, which may include suspending posting privileges or terminating accounts. Members found using the service solely for abusive purposes will face immediate termination without refund.

Cheapnews staff will address valid abuse reports promptly, ensuring that abusive material ceases to be posted.
Cheapnews aims to offer a flexible service for its members while encouraging appropriate use of its services and the newsgroups.
